Feature: Puzzle Fun!
Sadly, this is what the puzzles (and, indeed, our entire site) could
look like if we get anymore lawsuit threats.
- The Line at IRF 2000
This was once a good group shot...
- Wybreg Spring 2000
Royalty I used to love this photo because
of the smiling faces...
- Slater Dubbing
This was a very cute photo showing the kids
lining up to be dubbed knights or princesses...
- Kiss from the Crowd
I adored this photo because of the looks on everyone's
faces as they blew a kiss to John-Paul...
- Wybreg Friends
This was the photo I cherished because I recognized
all the faces in the crowd...
Every two weeks we are going to turn five of our
very own photos into a Java-based puzzle for you to solve! If you
have a suggestion as to a photo that would make a good puzzle, let
us know! To see past puzzles, go

Article: The Public Flogging of an Iowa
State Representative
As we walked up to Nollen
Plaza in downtown Des Moines, Iowa, we heard the very distinct crack
of Sauboo's whip. Immediately, Willa's knees went weak and her four
year old son got visibly more excited to see his favourite faire character
while her three year old son became one with Willa's skirts in hopes
of not bringing attention to himself and therefore having to talk
to Sauboo. John-Paul took out his camera and disappeared into the
crowd. [more...] |
Soapbox: One Bad Apple
I had to do some digging to find out where I'd last left my soapbox.
It was at work, as I should have guessed, right where I left it
near the water cooler. I tend to have alot of conversations about
Microsoft, stereotypes, commercial jingles, and just about anything
else that causes people who stop near the water cooler to stop and
vent. Now that I have located my soapbox I shall take a few moments
to step up on it... [more...]

Poll: The Rennie Perspective
Do you have an opinion? We already know that we here at AtTheFaire
do! Now's your chance to let us know what you think about the photo
fiasco. I was just thinking that if we had to blur faces, it would
take away a lot of my power. As a friend of mine once told me, "Everyone
has to be nice to Willa or they get crappy photos of themselves
put on her site!"
Take me to the bloody poll
already!

Article: About Our Photos
In
1995 I was brand new to the world wide web. Actually, I'd been using
it for awhile but in text form only. I didn't even know it could
have pictures! Of course, neither did most people at that time since
the web was still in diapers. Netscape 2 was going to be the best
thing ever and Microsoft still didn't realize the internet was going
to be important...
When I bought my first digital camera in 1996 it was mainly used
for putting pictures of Disneyland up on my GeoWorld home page.
(That's "Yahoo! GeoCities" for the net newbies out there.)
In those days I had to explain what my gadget was. "It's a
computer camera," I'd say, since no one knew what a digital
camera was. [more...]
