Feature: Puzzles of the Iowa Renaissance
Festival and Harvest Faire
- Medici Grove
Did you know that IRF is actually "themed" to
be set in medieval Italy?
- 1996 Mugs
We bought one of each style, simply because that was the year
Willa started attending IRF!
- There Be Dragons!
What an awesome daily treat for the kids! And
we had a blast quaking in fear.
- WWWow!
What would our puzzles be without piecing together some cleavage?
Oh, and some blatant advertising for Willa's Washer Well Wenches.
- See You Next
Year!? This sign tells so much about
festival life. There are so many unknowns...
Every two weeks we are going to turn five of our very own photos
into a Java-based puzzle for you to solve! If you have a suggestion
as to a photo that would make a good puzzle, let
us know! To see past puzzles, go
here.

Article: Poofy Shirts for Boys in 5 Easy
Steps
I was in a bit of a bind about two weeks ago when I realized that
my sons had outgrown their garb from last year. I pretty much panicked.
Especially when they looked at me with those gorgeous blue eyes
and said, "Mommy, we wanna be PIRANTS!" (They're 3 &
4...we allow them their quirky childhood mispronunciations.) [more...]

Review: A Wench's Perspective on IRF
Let's
keep in mind here that I'm writing this article exactly a week after
the three day Iowa Renaissance Festival and Harvest Faire began
and I'm still exhausted. So bear with me, won't you?
The day started out really early, as JP had spent the week
prior to the festival in California and had just gotten home at
around 3am the night before. We got to the faire within about 1/2
hour of opening gate... [more...]

Review: JP Revisits The Good, the Bad
and the Ugly at IRF
A few years before AtTheFaire.com existed I had many of my theme
park photos available on my simplenet web site. Included amongst
the photos from Disneyland and other places were a few directories
of renaissance festival images including some from the Iowa Renaissance
Festival and Harvest Faire. Around the 1998 - 1999 time period I
wrote up my first festival review entitled The Good, the Bad,
and the Ugly detailing all the things I believed to be wrong
with the Iowa festival. [more...]
