According to The Directorie, the last faire of the year is the Louisiana Renaissance Festival, which runs from November 4 - December 10.

And the first faire of the year is Florida Keys Renaissance Faire, which runs from January 13 - 15.

HOW TO BEAT FAIRE WITHDRAWAL!

Ahh the wintertime in the Midwest...more than likely, that means you are without faire! Heavens forbid! And it won't take long for faire withdrawal to set in. So here at AtTheFaire.com we've come up with some suggestions on how to beat the faire-less blues:

1. Browse our photo archive! I was pining for my bodice the other day, so I decided that I would go relive those wonderful memories from this past season...and when I was done with that, I went back into the archives of faires that JP had documented before we partnered up. It was amazing! The amount of people in those photos who are now friends of mine was mind-blowing! I felt like I was back with everyone and having fun all over again :) So browse...
2. Reaquaint yourself with your faire friends! With the holidays all around us, now is the perfect time to send an e-mail or letter to those wonderful people you hung out with all summer! Let them know that you're thinking of them...maybe even get together for a coffee or something! And don't forget to register yourself in our Faire Folke: Rennies section so those in your area can find you, too!
3. Wear a part of your garb in your mundane life. I had been thinking about this one, because when I HAD a cloak, I'd wear it places off-season. And just yesterday I saw a woman wearing her cloak while out shopping! So, I figured this one just had to be added to the list! Wear your poofy shirt with jeans...or your floppy hat as a fashion statement! It will help get you reconnected with your faire-self!
4. Read an historical book or watch a themed movie. We have a listing of some good ones in our Faire Virgins: Persona section. And when you're done, submit a review!
5. Get ahead of the game and make some garb for next season! Why is is that rennies are always scrambling at the last minute to make new garb for the coming season? Because we're too busy missing faire in the wintertime to think to make it now! So get going! And we have some wonderful resources listed on our Faire Virgins: Garb page, complete with listings of known pattern numbers from a variety of well-known companies!
6. There are so many things that you can do just on our site to beat withdrawal! It's amazing! Even I can't believe it :) We have our weekly newsletter complete with puzzles and recipes and articles. You can brush up on your B.F.A. or do some research on your persona. Learn some faire songs and then plan how you'll get more involved in the coming faire season! See what faires are in your area and start planning your schedule, or see where we plan to be in the year 2001. The possibilities are endless! Heck...do what we here at ATF wanted to do...get garbed up and go visit Santa at the mall!

So don't lose yourself in your blues...get ahead of the game and find out what you want to do in the coming season! Enjoy this downtime and revel in your free time!
