FRAYED CELTIC KNOT AT STARRY NIGHT Calling All Musicians & Singers: NEW IRISH JAM! Thats right. Theres a new place to jam. Chuck of Starry Night Gourmet Coffee and Cuisine in Johnston is setting aside the fourth Tuesday of the month for Frayed Celtic Knot. This will be an Irish Jam session for musicians of all skills and instruments. Singers are welcome too! If you have read Field Guide to the Irish Music Session by Barry Foy, fear not: ALL instruments are welcome. Players of all abilities are welcome. All singers are welcome. Because the evening is called Frayed Celtic Knot the usual rules are out and our own rules are in. Perhaps it would best to say Untraditional Traditional Music. Now that you have an idea as to what we are about, here is a little bit about where. Starry Night is located at 5955 Merle Hay Road in Johnston. Take Merle Hay Road north, go under the interstate and about 1 or 2 miles later, look on the east side of the street. When you see the strip mall with H&R Block, be prepared to turn into that mall. Starry Night is located in the middle of the mall. If those directions are too vague for you, go to Chucks web site at and see if his are any better. You will also find his menu. My personal favorite is Lefse; I dont what country it is traditional to, but Im tempted to move there! The desserts are awesome too! Try the scones! You dont know what a scone is? Doesnt matter; youll like this tasty treat. Remember Moms Pineapple Upside Down Cake? Youll think youre home. And the Frozen Mocha... nummy. I guess I should mention the coffee and tea... First, Jasmine Tea - it tastes as good as it smells. The coffee - well - Chuck makes the basics and they are great. But one of my favorites is an Albino Something-or-Other (yeah, I cant remember the name) that is not on the regular menu, but hell know what you are talking about. And he has an awesome Chai. One last note: Ive been to many coffee shops; this one actually has good biscotti! If you know someone who would be interested in participating, drop them
a line and send them here to ATF. If you are interested in participating
yourself, click
here and let your interest be known. OK listeners too, Chuck does
want a vague idea of how many will be invading his establishment to make
music. Keep in mind that Chuck has invited ATF and all Ren Folke to invade any time, and if we do a good job of attending Frayed Celtic Knot, he is willing to give us a Rennie night for Faire Music and Such so we can warm up for next season. More on that later. SO...if you havent clicked here its time to do so. Cant wait to see you there. Lady & P.S. There is one rule. Tip the Barista. Tip a little, tip a lot, just dont tip over! |
