SALISBURY FAIRE...A GO OR A WASH?

We were chatting it up with one of our rennie friends the other day, talking about what fun Salisbury Faire was going to be this year, when our buddy said, "IF there's a Salisbury Faire!"

Apparently, everyone's worried about the fact that Des Moines not only had a record-breaking amount of snow this past winter that melted rather quickly, but we're also having lots of rain this spring. They're worried that Water Works Park (where the faire is held) will be just that...very watery.

So John-Paul and I decided to make a trek to the park to see just what was going on. After all, we have a lot involved in Salisbury Faire! The Washer Well Wenches will be premiering new skits there and JP needs to know whether he'd be able to sell his roses or not.

When we showed up, we were extremely pleasantly surprised. I guess I'd never been on these grounds when it wasn't Salisbury...it looked extremely different, but we got those pre-faire goosebumps nonetheless.

We're very happy to report that the ground was a bit damp, but we only found one puddle, and that was located outside of fairegrounds and on the side of the road. The river was a lot lower than it had been and the greenery was growing beautifully! There is a downed tree in the middle of the park, but it's just over one of those bridged gully areas, so it will make for lovely scenery.

We also discovered that they (meaning the Salisbury people) had already begun their work...all around the fairegournds site was the green fencing with bright pink ribbons atop them. The jousting arena was already laid out, too. So, it looks like everything will be wonderful!
