THE TAIL OF BABUS MACMONKEY

Babus MacMonkey...the legend continues to grow.

I will give you but a snippet of just whom Lord MacMonkey is. He was a lord from the highlands of Scotland, on holiday that brought him through the village in England in which the Washer Well Wenches were living and working.

He was handsome, and we all know the weaknesses that the wenches have for handsome men with brogues and kilts. One by one, he romanced the wenches, getting his laundry done for free and taking Keirra out for picnics in the afternoons (which she brought from home) so her husband wouldn't find out, and taking Sheila to the pub after the day was over, but never really managing to pay the tab. He woo'ed Willa by slowly wearing down her defences by greeting her every morning with compliments and wildflowers when he'd drop off his laundry, telling her stories of his great castle and how he could sweep her off to that place someday.

Each wench kept him a secret from the others for a whole month, which was hard to believe. Then one day while Willa was hanging Lord MacMonkey's kilt on the line, Sheila looked up and saw the familiar tartan. She asked if the handsome man had come by to see her. Of course, this caused quite a stir and eventually the whole story came out. The wenches felt betrayed and hurt...and then they got angry. We all know that you don't want to make the wenches angry.

What happened to poor Lord Babus MacMonkey cannot be voiced, for it would be something no one would ever believe and it just might cause the wenches to lose business. So, for the safety and clean laundry of the kingdom, we keep our silence. Babus will not be going back to his castle anytime soon. He will spend the rest of his days working off what he owes to the wenches. He has been doomed to the form of a monkey.

However, poor Babus has discovered that he much prefers the visage of his monkey-ness. He never really liked being human (except for the wenches), and he has since become very protective of the wenches and never lets them go anywhere without him. He has shown his loyalty numerous times, but he will never be changed back to the womanizer he once was. He lives on as a warning to men everywhere.

BEWARE THE WRATH OF BABUS MACMONKEY!

Keep this in mind when you feel the urge to not pay the wenches for laundry well done...
