Captain
Kidd |
TBA |
Touchstone Pictures |
Finding that he and his fellows are being treated like indentured
servants by the British, Captain William Kidd, a Scot and a Merchant
Marine, became a pirate in the 1690's, sailing on his ship, The Adventure
Galley, pillaging ships across three seas, and embarking on adventures
that would make him a legend... |
TBA, possibly 2003 |
Gates
of Fire |
TBA, but it's being produced by George Clooney, so guess who will
likely be the star? |
Universal Pictures |
This is the Battle of Thermopylae ("Gates of Fire") as seen by the
only survivor, Zeones. Told in flashback, the film follows the story
of the young slave (aka, a "helot", a servant), starting with his
childhood, through his Spartan military training, ending with one
of the most famous battles ever, as the relatively tiny band of Spartans
holds back an army of thousands of Persians. Facing armies that numbered
over in the millions, the Spartans obviously knew they would ultimately
lose, but they fought on, regardless. If the Persians had conquered
Greece that early on, Western culture as we know it probably would
never have happened... |
TBA, possibly 2003 |
King
Arthur |
TBA |
Touchstone Pictures |
As the Roman Empire crumbles, the British Isles are thrown into
a loose anarchy as errant knights are entrenched in years of territorial
battle. Then, one king emerges to unite them, Arthur, with his concept
of a Round Table of united knights. This film aims to tie the legend
of Arthur into the realities of the time in which he would have ruled.
The details of the plot aren't known, but this film will likely depict
the battles that led to Arthur's reign, and the issues that he would
have dealt with (the traditional "pulling Excalibur out of the stone"
origin story will probably not be used). |
TBA, possibly 2003 |
