RENRADIO WINS! As most of you who read AtTheFaire even every once in a great while know, we are the hosts of RenRadio.com's web site. Because of this, we plugged the hell out of the fact that RR was part of a St. Patrick's Day contest for all Live365 stations that play Irish music. The station with the most sustained listeners was to win $100 and free promotional goodies. Well, because of JP and myself singlehandedly listening to the station on both of our computers every waking moment for the entire week, RenRadio won! (As a side note, we only had one computer with the volume up...most of the time. There was that night when we played "dualing RenRadio" though...but we blame that on the wine. We're such wild kids!) I got an e-mail from Michael McDane Harris (aka Rengeek) today saying that he came out the winner! I was so excited for him (and for all of the performers he promised to tip quite well this season...I only wish he would be at a faire the Washer Well Wenches were performing at!)! So, I asked him for the scoop on what the stats were and what he would win. He promptly replied with, "I know that Live365.com will be sending the $100.00 check soon. But what they mean by 'promotional material' I'm not too sure. Most likely a short interview and a picture on their home page." You have to let us know what material you get from them...maybe something in a nice tartan? (Update as of 3/23: Live365's idea of promotional goodies is making RenRadio their "Featured Broadcast" for a few days (which means he gets a link at the top of their home page) and a certificate showing what an Irish god he is. Hey...at least he's getting that C note!) As for stats, he said, "Statistic wise the contest was based on 'sustained' listening. Which I assume is an average of listener hours and hits each day. The average that I saw was:
Wow! I am not only extremely impressed, but I'm now extremely addicted to RenRadio. I used to be one of those casual listeners, but now I find myself listening more and more often. Do you think this could lead to more potent listening? I sure hope so! RenRadio currently has over 400 songs on its playlist, but I know that Rengeek is always looking for more! He includes links to each of the artists' web sites so any interested parties can buy CDs or tapes. It's a "good thing", as Martha would say. He's always looking for more artists to let him play their music, so if you're interested, e-mail Rengeek and tell him Willa sent you. It's a GREAT way to get your name known and share your talents! Rengeek also says he'll soon be redoing his site's design and could possibly be giving out goodies of his own to his listeners, so check his site often. And just because the contest is over doesn't mean you can quit listening! JP & I plan to do a radio spot for him soon...won't that be fun? |
