For more information on what domains are available, you may use the
"whois" feature on any domain name registration service such
as Gandi or Network
Solutions.
If the name was registered by a reseller company, the whois may list
the reseller as the owner. You should then go to the reseller's page and
look up the name there. For instance, looking
up atthefaire.com shows it is owned by Network Solutions. If you go
to the Network Solutions whois page and look
up the entry, you can find the real owner.
